ILSA NASACOM WEBINAR 2021
AUKUS Agreement: Its Effect on Indo-Pacific Region

Description

This webinar is held as a series of the International Law Essay Competition (NASACOM) ILSA Chapter UNS. The international community was horrified by the emergence of the AUKUS Agreement which is a trilateral security pact between Australia, United Kingdom, and United States on September 15, 2021 for the Indo-Pacific region. The first initiative of AUKUS was to support Australia in the establishment of nuclear-powered submarines without any element against any country. However, AUKUS also has the potential to cause instability in the Southeast Asian region, considering that Southeast Asia has a threat in the northern region from China in the South China Sea. Therefore, this webinar is present to elaborate more related to the urgency of the formation of AUKUS and the potential emergence of legal issues especially against Indonesia itself.
